Day 7

Sunday, no work today in the house, I thought.  After church we went out to eat with some friends and went to look at some counter tops.  Just look, nothing more.  Went to the house and identified the breakers that were located in the root cellar.  That took a bit of time.  40 breakers and had to turn all on and off until we figured where they all were tied in at.  The cotractor (RS) is coming tomorrow to start working on Mom's bathroom and bedroom. Suppose to be at the house at 9:00AM.  So Dave will meet up with him in the morning.  Mom and I will come later on in the day.  Don't do 9:00AM to well.  That was it for today.  Dave drew up the blueprints for Mom's rooms.  Heck, we may get into the house by Spring.  We will just wait and see.  Guess I'll post more tomorrow.  Until later...

Day 6

Lunch Time
Boys & their toys

Master bedroom
Here we are again. Saturday and it is COLD outside. Dave said that this morning there was snow on the ground. Of course, I did not see it at all. Bed was feeling pretty good. So once Mom and I got to the house, we started working. Dave had been working on the kitchen island, again. He started building up the kitchen island. We wanted to add a eating bar to the island. Framed it out and placed the bead board around the new sections. The electrician will come on Tuesday, New Year, to add plug ins on the island. Dave will put shelves on both ends of the island. Perhaps to put cookie jars, small appliances, cook books, etc. not really sure yet. But the more storage I have in the kitchen, the better off I will be. Our friends/neighbors came over and both brought some goodies to munch on.  MMM good, thanks RT and SL. Mom worked on the floor some more. I painted the master bedroom. Tomorrow is going to be a day off from working at the house. Thanks for Sundays. Going to church and afterward we may go look at counter top colors. I hope you all have a blessed Sunday and remember this is the day to reflect on the glory that is all HIS! Which we should do everyday.

Day 5

Painted Bead Board
This was a slow day. I had to paint all the bead board. That took a lot of time. But I have to say it looks good. We had visitors today, JL, SL & RT. Had someone, JP, to pick up our carpet and padding. Which cleaned out the room where we had it stored. Dave started working on the kitchen island. He tore the cook top and counter top out of the island. Took the oven out of the wall. What a mess. At least I don't have to worry about him wanting me to cook for him. LOL.  Mom pulled more staples and nails out of the floor. My gosh, how many staples did it take to keep the carpet and padding down!! Until later...

Day 4

Dining Room
We went to Lowe's Hardware first thing this morning. So many pretty things in that store. We bought paint and some other items. Looked at appliances while we were there, also. When we got to Walkertown house, it looked like it was ready for us to give it some loving with the paint. So here the day begins. Mom and RT hit the floors, pulling the staples out where the carpet padding was. Man that carpet padding was not going anywhere. It was tacked down good. They did the master bedroom. Mom had to leave after they got done with that room. Mom had to go take L-Vis out and babysit him while we continued to work. RT went to 2nd bedroom and worked on that floor. I did the staple removing in the dining room. When I got done I started painting. Dave was sanding the kitchen walls. We had another neighbor to come by to visit, SL. Loved the visit. I painted the dining room in Sea Grass (green) and Dave trimmed for me. When we were done with that room, we went on into the kitchen. I could not wait for this room. Excited!! I painted the walls Rolling Sea (blue) while Dave trimmed out. RT and I finished the 2nd bedroom. Only thing left to pull staples up is in the hallway. Be glad when that will be done. Thanks RT for all your help. Hope you can get out of bed tomorrow. We are truly blessed with good people around us down in Walkertown. I hope they all know that we are so excited to be part of their lives again. It is like family. I am watching Castaway while I am blogging and resting. Got to get ready for bed. I have to go to MD tomorrow, so I won't have as much time at the house tomorrow.  Be can't wait to get back at it. Good night! Until later...

Day 3

Coastal Cedar panel
Bead Board

Wow!!! What a storm we had last night and this morning. Mom & I got up at 5AM to go After Christmas Shopping. Took L-Vis outside, gosh it was COLD. I told Mom and we decided to go back to bed. Didn't fight the issue. Dave went on to Walkertown and worked on the house. When we got out of bed, we went shopping. Good haul. Dave went to Lowe's Hardware and bought supplies, bead board and Coastal Cedar paneling. Dave started speckling the kitchen walls. I decided on the colors for the kitchen and dining room. Mom started pulling up staples from the master bedroom floor. When she got tired, she went shopping again. Dave & I talked about bead boarding the kitchen island. I think it will look good. Been looking at Coastal Living magazines. Could be good or could not be good. Two neighbors came over (JL & RT) and had nice visits with them. Gosh, it's great to be back in this neighborhood again. Came home looked at Pinterest for awhile for ideas for the kitchen. So exciting to look at the pictures and think it could be ours. Started making notes to start this blog. After looking on the computer at ideas, I scrapped the paint colors I had chose. The colors now will be white bead board throughout the house from chair railing down. Color on the top of walls. White door and window trimming also. Bead board in main bathroom. Coastal Cedar paneling in the den. Mom said she would like in her bedroom perhaps sand or green color and bathroom be blue. Dave wants to build drop down clothes rack in the laundry room. Looked online at LowesHardware.com for appliances. So many expensive things out there. We will see what comes about.  Until later...

Day 2

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL

Fixed breakfast for everyone
Cooked a turkey for dinner
Had all the meal items ready for later on
Decided to go finish stripping the wallpaper at the house. We took the wire shelving out of the pantry. The task of looking for color schemes has fell on my shoulders. What a  chore. So I had colors and colors of paint chips to look through. We all love the beach, so that is what we want to reflect in the color theme for the house.  OMG!!  I will be posting pictures when I get a chance to do so. I so confussed. Let's sleep on it. Wish me luck.

Hope you all remembered to wish Jesus Happy Birthday. Let's go fix our Christmas meal. MMMMMM!

Happy Birthday Jesus
Until later ...

Day 1

Master bedroom
carpet was pulled up & showed
that a fireplace was closed off
12-24-12
Christmas Eve!! Got to hurry up - Santa is coming tonight!!
Pulling carpet up from the Master Bedroom
We pulled carpet up in dining room, both bedrooms & hallway. It came up pretty fast. Just a bit dirty. Don't know how long that carpet has been in the house, but it was good carpet. Going to give it to some friends of ours. We started stripping the wallpaper off the kitchen walls. Now that was a trick. Once we got a "hang" of it, it worked pretty good. The paper split from the glue backing. We actually had to strip the walls twice. Once with the floral paper and then with the glue backing. We will have to finish it the next time we are at the house. A neighbor (JL) came by. Nice visit. He caught us up on the neighborhood. Good friend and neighbor. Nice to talk with him again.  Until later...

Introduction to our New Adventure

Let me start with saying thank you for reading this blog. My family (Dave - husband, Terrie - myself and L-Vis - 13 yr old German Short-haired Pointer, lived in Walkertown, NC for 9 1/2 years in this rented house. We loved the house but was not big enough for our addition. We invited my Mom, Margaret, to move in with us. We needed a larger house. One with another bathroom and another bedroom. We searched & searched. We found one that we all liked in Rural Hall, NC. We signed the papers and the house was ours.  All 4 of us moved in together. After 4 months, we are not happy with the DEVELOPMENT we are in. The house is great but we were not told alot of things about the neighborhood and the do's & don't's of Developmental Living. We all have decided that we miss Walkertown & the house that we were renting. We talked with the lady that we were renting from & told her of our dilemma. We wanted to buy the house from her. She agreed! So that is were we are now. I have friends that have been asking us about the house, when we were going to be moving, etc. They have said that they could tell that we were not happy in Rural Hall. Let me tell you, friends are super. They are very supportive about our decisions. I want to thank them all. Love you guys.
We are starting our adventure 12-24-12.
